Richard W. Becker

Born October 7, 1936 in Pekin to George and Effie (Deakin) Becker, he married Janis Lynn “Jan” Becker on July 2, 1965 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin. She died June 11, 2018. He also was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Becker.

Surviving are two daughters, Debra (Troy) Parish of Springfield and Jill (Brian) Garman of Groveland and four grandchildren, Jacob (Lauren) Parish, Brady Parish, Kendall Garman and Zachary Garman.

Dick was a 1956 graduate of Pekin Community High School.

He worked for Keystone Steel & Wire Company in Bartonville for 31 years, retiring in 1989 as a fence machine operator.

Dick was an avid fisherman and sports fan. He loved to follow basketball, baseball and football. Dick had played hockey in his younger years and enjoyed playing basketball and football in high school. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears.

Dick always loved to watch his grandkids in their activities and sporting events.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Eric N. Swanson will officiate. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
