Penny Wood-Rusterholz

Born February 21, 1962 in Keokuk, IA to Hufford Thomas and Iva Jeanette (Stark) Gibson, she married Robert Rusterholz on June 26, 2004 in North Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are her father of Louisiana; two daughters, Amy (Michael) Mallery of Pekin and Jenny (Ben) Dietrich of Delavan; two sons, Tim Wood and George (Michelle) Wood, both of Pekin; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Madeline (Dave) Salter of Pekin and two brothers, Chauncey Gibson of Farmington and Brian Claiborne of South Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her mother; one daughter, Dawn Marie Wood; one grandson, Cody Wayne Seeyle; one great-granddaughter, Audrie Jo and one brother, Mark Gibson.

Penny worked as a caretaker in the area for many years and earned her Associate’s Degree in Drug and Alcohol Counseling from Illinois Central College.

A loving and devoted Ma, grandma, great-grandma and sister, Penny loved helping others, especially offering guidance on addiction.

Her memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor David Pierce will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
