Born October 4, 1939 in Pekin to Alfred Horton and Katherine (Bloomer) Owens, she married James E. Gardiner on October 12, 1957 in Fort Dix, New Jersey. He died September 30, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her mother; father; step-mother; two sisters, Carol Levelle and Oda Sue Shertz and one brother Wayne Horton.
Surviving are one daughter, Terria (Greg) Cross of Pekin; one son, Rick Gardiner of Pekin; six grandsons, Mike Kelley, Jerimiah Kelley, Adam Cross, Eric Gardiner, Ryan (Taylor) Cross and Kyle (Caitlin) Cross; five great-grandchildren, Aidyn Cross, Lilly Cross, Olivia Cross, Jameson Cross, Nolan Cross; one sister, Ellen Kennel and one brother, Jeff Owens.
Pat had worked for Washington Middle School District #52 in the cafeteria and later prepared food for Aramark. She had previously been a homemaker, raising and caring for her children.
She enjoyed working cross stitch and putting puzzles together on FaceBook. She enjoyed going fishing with her late husband. Pat loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She almost never missed a sporting event for her grandsons and was their biggest fan.
Her graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Pastor John Vaughn will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
