Melanie Margaret Holmes

Born July 11, 1982 in Pekin, she was the daughter of Nick and Kathleen Blanchard. She married Scott A. Holmes on August 26, 2006 in Groveland. He survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Kathleen Blanchard of Pekin; her father and stepmother, Nick and Cyndy Blanchard of Creve Coeur; four sons, Joel Wockley of Tremont, Sam Holmes, Trace Holmes and Jonah Holmes, all of Pekin; six siblings, Erika Gillmore, Michael Grube, both of Pekin, Fred (Jen) Blanchard of Glasford, Challo Schott of Boynton Beach, Florida, Annie Bright of Denver, Colorado, Sarah (Brandon) Knapp of Washington; her in-laws, Randy and Ronda Holmes, Sr. of Pekin; her brother-in-law, Randy (Sabrina) Holmes of Green Valley and her sister-in-law, Lindsay (Scott) Johnson. She also leaves her dog, Penny.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Molly Brandenburg.

Melanie was a homemaker and devoted to her family. She enjoyed watching her boys play sports. Melanie had the gift to make every person she interacted with feel as if they were the only one in her presence. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and her ability to spread a positive message. Melanie was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Yadier Molina in particular and was a convert from the Chicago Cubs.

Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Vernon Risner and Deacon Tim Blanchard will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home. Cremation has been accorded.
