Born April 7, 1933 in Danvers to Harold and Ruth (Wells) Cross, she married Edward Kacer in 1950. She later married Lowell Shepherd in 1953.
Surviving are two daughters, Debra (Robert) Williams of Peoria and Tina (Charles) Jenkins of Pekin; two step-sons, Randy Shepherd and Rick Shepherd, both of Clinton; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Neva (Joe) Evans, Janet Smithee, and Connie Cross, all of Pekin; and three brothers, Harold (Esther) Cross of Tremont, Ronald (Sandy) Cross and Earl Thomas Cross, both of Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Mary waitressed and tended bar in the Pekin area for many years.
She was a member of First Assembly of God in Pekin.
Mary enjoyed traveling, doing crossword puzzles, going out to eat, and riding motorcycles. She loved her family.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Pastor Wayne Rowe will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.
