She was born October 14, 1991 in Peoria to Levi Clarence and Rebecca Kay (Daly) Bishop.
Surviving are her mother of Peoria Heights; her father and step-mother, Levi “Butch” (Mavis) Bishop of Mapleton; five brothers, Jeremy Bishop, Zebulon “Pike” Bishop, James “Jim Bob” Bishop, John “John Boy” Bishop and Jason Bishop, all of Pekin; two sisters, Jennifer (Brian) Avery of Washington and Erin Mandrell of Pekin; one step-brother, Levi Bishop, Jr. of East Peoria; her grandmother, Mina Mae Daly of Peoria. She also leaves her aunts and uncles who were an important part of her life. She also loved children, especially her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Benjamin Bishop; one sister, Elizabeth Bishop and her grandparents, Thomas Daly, Levi Bishop and Mae (Martzluff) Bishop.
Mary Ellen will be remembered as having a free spirit and did not know a stranger.
Her graveside funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses in care of the funeral home.
