PEKIN ~ Marion Keith Schrock, 99, of Kannapolis, North Carolina, passed away at 1:01 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at Atrium Health Hospice & Pallative Care Cabarrus in Kannapolis, North Carolina. He was formerly of Pekin.
Born January 16, 1925 in Goodfield to George A. and M. Viola (Newcomb) Schrock, he married V. June Payne on May 16, 1944 in Pekin. His wife of 80 years survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Sherry (Vern) Biggers of Kannapolis, North Carolina; one son, Dennis (Pam) Schrock of East Peoria; seven grandchildren, Jill (Ricky) Vredenburg of Midland, North Carolina, Greg Duncan of Chicago, Brian (Melanie) Schrock of Melbourne Beach, Florida, Jennifer (Darren) Smith of Washington, Laurie (John) Hazen of Pekin, Ken Biggers of Chicago and Susan Biggers of Rockford; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Scott Biggers and two brothers, John L. Schrock and Floyd A. Schrock.
Marion was an Iron Worker and retired in 1987 after 41 years. Since that time, he and his wife, June, enjoyed traveling in their RV, camping, boating and fishing. They loved to dance and go bowling.
In their early/younger years, they enjoyed riding Marion’s Harley Davidson. He was a charter member of the Peoria Motorcycle Club. He wrestled for Pekin Community High School, was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and a member of Pekin Elks Lodge 1271.
Marion was a man of many talents. He loved building and could do work in virtually every aspect of the skilled trades.
He loved his children, grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and was active in attending their sports, music and many extracurricular activities.
Marion was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin, where he was involved in many church activities and with the Food Pantry.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin. Pastor David Auxier will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will follow in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
