Born April 12, 1905 in Cambria, IL to John and Myrtle Howell, she married John M. Hodges, Sr. in Herrin, Illinois. He died in 1978. She was also preceded in death by one son, John M. Hodges, Jr.; one brother, Joel Howell and two sisters, Mildred Leigh and Dexter Wade.
Surviving are one daughter, Betty J. Kaebel of Pekin; two grandsons, David (RaeAnn) Meyer of Huntsville, AL and John M. “Skip” (Jan) Hodges III of Hot Springs, AR; two granddaughters, Susan (Karl) Kaebel of Pekin and Corrie (Bruce) Bennett of Pekin; 11 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
According to the 110 Club, Lucille was the oldest living Illinoisan prior to her death.
A homemaker, Lucille loved playing bridge, line dancing and teaching exercise classes at the Miller Center.
Lucille also loved to cook, especially a family favorite, cinnamon bread and dinner rolls.
She was a long time member of over 60 years at First Christian Church in Pekin.
Private graveside service will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
