Louise Betty Michaelson

Born May 13, 1926 in Macomb to Lawrence and Beulah (Myers) Valentine, she married Donald B. Michaelson on October 20, 1946 in Peoria. He died May 7, 2005 in Pekin. She also was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Geraldine Reeves, Grovine Stauffer, Joan Humes and Eloise Norton, who was her twin.

Surviving are one son, Lonnie (Karen) Michaelson of Pekin; one daughter, Linda (Kim) Nierstheimer of Pekin; five grandchildren, Lisa (Pat) Taphorn of Pekin, Ryan (Amy) Michaelson of Florissant, Missouri, Greg (Kate) Van Dyke of Pekin, Jeff (A.J.) Van Dyke of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Abby (Chip) Hill of Pekin and thirteen great-grandchildren, Nathan Taphorn, Carter Taphorn, Mikayla Michaelson, Jenna Taphorn, Justin Taphorn, Dylan Michaelson, Julianna Hill, Connor Hill, Avery Van Dyke, Grant Van Dyke, Duncan Hill, Livia Van Dyke and Lucas Van Dyke.

Louise was a 1944 graduate of Plymouth High School.

A homemaker, Louise did work for a short time over 4 years in the bottling department at American Distilling Company in Pekin.

Louise was an avid sports fan and a great supporter of her great-grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. She loved to play card and dice games with family and enjoyed summer’s spent at Chetek, Wisconsin for multiple summers. She was active in programs at the Miller Center in Pekin for many years.

She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin, where she was a longtime member of the Joy Circle.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Heather Robertson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
