Born September 16, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan to Walter A. and Esther M. (Barlow) Kuck, she married Edward M. Germain, Jr. on August 6, 1949 in Highland Park, Michigan. He died March 3, 2002 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Laura L. Ziegle and one brother, Walter A. Kuck, Jr.
Surviving are one son, Edward (Margaret) Germain, III of The Villages, Florida; one daughter, Judy (Michael) Pickford of Osage Beach, Missouri; five grandchildren; one brother, Ernst (Catherine) Kuck of Sun City West, Arizona and sister-in-law, Marion Jones of Garland, Texas.
Lillian was a graduate of Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, where she was a member of the bar association for several years. She moved to Pekin in 1961 and attended Bradley University and later taught 4thand 5thGrade for Pekin Public Schools District 108 for 22 years.
Following retirement, Lillian and her husband sponsored a Ben Franklin Stamp Club at L.E. Starke School for many years. She also served as a Tazewell County Election Judge at the school for over 20 years.
Lillian was a 50-plus year member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin. She was also a member of American Association of University Women, Friends of Channel 47, Friends of the Pekin Library, Tazewell County Retired Teachers, Church Women United and Kiwanis Club of Pekin. She was also a volunteer for Talking Books for many years.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, shopping, playing cards and chocolate.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle and Valerie Moehle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Private burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
