Born August 24, 1936 in Monmouth to Francis H. Watson and Lavanchalle “Jakie” (Gates) Snyder, he married Norma Mae Flynn on February 5, 1957 in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Larry F. (Tammy) Watson, II of Canton and Wesley H. (Jory) Watson of Somerville, Alabama; one daughter, Lisa L. Watson of Pekin; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way, and three sisters, Joan Bowen of Peoria, Linda (Gary) Long of Texas and Diane Tennis of Liberty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Eugene H. Snyder; one infant daughter, Lori Mae Watson; one infant great-grandson, Xavier Williams and one brother, Jay M. Snyder.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, where he was an usher. Larry’s faith began at age 33 when he became a Christian.
Larry loved to work and stay active. He was a realtor with Razorback Realty, worked for Richard Stropes Real Estate & Investments for 18 years as a maintenance technician, then for thirty years at Sherex Chemical as an electrician and instrument man. He also owned and operated Watson and Son Repair for several years. After retirement, Larry worked as a caregiver.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hosting all of the holiday gatherings, and taking fishing trips to Wisconsin with family for the past 49 years. Larry was generous, kind and funny.
His graveside service will be held at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
