He was born on July 2, 1953 in Peoria to Dorsie “Bud” Graves and Joyce (Cantrell) Graves. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Graves and one sister, Brenda Kaufman.
Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Jean Strassner of Pekin; three children, Tracy Haas and Eric (Ashley Wyand) Graves both of Pekin and Tawnya Graves of Indiana; ten grandchildren, Austin Graves, Brennan Graves, Jacob Graves, Addison Graves, Sarah Haas, David Haas, Addyson Hass, Cody Strassner, and Aiden Strassner; one great-granddaughter, Amyra “Princess” Graves; three sisters, Lera Graves of Pekin, Genah Reese of Canton and Tauleen Graves-Morris of Illinois; one brother, Mark Graves of Pekin and one daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Graves-Benton of Illinois.
He owned and operated Superior Signs in Pekin, retiring in 2013. He also worked at the T-Shirt House in Pekin, D&J Custom Signs in Washington and The Sign Shop in Pekin.
Larry loved playing guitar and singing, often volunteering at local nursing homes in the area. He also enjoyed drawing, playing softball, volleyball and bowling.
Larry was of the Christian faith.
A gathering celebrating Larry’s life will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024 at B.G. Karaoke Saloon in Bartonville. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
