Jerry Thomas Goins

Born September 1, 1945 in Wichita, Kansas to Thomas N. and Arlene B. (Rogers) Goins, he married Penelope “Penny” Wilcox on March 17, 1975 at New Salem State Park. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Jerid Lynn Goins of Groveland; one granddaughter, Katelynn Marie Albecht of Pekin and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia McCanns.

Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army.

He worked as a self-employed janitor in the Tazewell County area for 30 years before retiring in 2010.

Jerry was a lifetime member and past commander of Paul Towne Memorial Amvets Post 169 in North Pekin, Martin-Courtney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4835 in Creve Coeur and Farmington American Legion Post 140.

He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and golf and doing crossword puzzles.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be from 1 to 3p Saturday, September 16, 2023 at North Pekin Amvets. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.

Memorial contributions may be given to the North Pekin Amvets Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, 660 Radio City Drive, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
