Born January 27, 1945 in Peoria to Everett Glenn and Alice Jane (Johnston) Cooper, she married Larry Richard Stuart, Sr. on December 1, 1962 in Peoria. He died April 20, 2022 in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carol Ann Cooper.
Surviving are one son, Larry (Susan) Stuart, Jr. of Pekin; one daughter, Lisa (Dean) Ziegenbein of Pekin; five grandchildren, Erica (Cody) Mauer, Carly (Dustin) Lou, Paige Stuart, all of Pekin, Jared Ziegenbein of Peoria and Clayton Stuart of Edison Park; three great-grandchildren, Liv Blakesley, Layla Mauer and Remington Mauer and one brother, Jerry (Jackie) Cooper of East Peoria.
Gloria was a cafeteria worker at the former Douglas School in Pekin for several years. She also had worked as an office worker for Browning-Ferris Industries.
She loved spending time with family, especially her great-grandchildren. She liked to travel and enjoyed annual trips to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed playing cards. She was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Gloria formerly attended Richwoods Christian Church in Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor David Ziegenbein and Pastor Jordan Ziegenbein will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
