Born April 1, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert Albert and Joan Lucille (Bohne) Verheyen, she married Irvin Dale Johnson on May 25, 1974 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Jamie (Shannon) Farrell of Evergreen, Colorado, Jill (Brian) Tisdale of Washington and Becca Johnson of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Tessa, Phoenix and Rylee Tisdale and Kieran, Liam and Julia Farrell; six sisters, Cynthia (Chuck) Stephens, Nancy Emerick and Susan Williams, all of Quincy, Mary Gensel of Pekin, Teresa (Larry) Block of Toluca and Amy (John) Gardner of Conifer, Colorado; three brothers, Michael (Donna) Verheyen of Peoria, Andrew (Yvonne) Verheyen of Dunlap and Mark (Michelle) Verheyen of New Lennox and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Verheyen and mother and stepfather, Joan and Paul Plesko.
Diane had worked in various roles in the Life Company at Pekin Insurance for 41 years, retiring in 2017.
She enjoyed traveling, playing golf, gardening, cooking and baking amazing pies. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
Diane was a 50-year member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
Her funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. Father Michael Andrejek will be the celebrant. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
Memorial contributions may be given to Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 303 South 7th Street, Pekin, Illinois or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 530 Northeast Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61637.
