She was born on October 8, 1965 in Pekin to Richard Allen McLean and Donna Sue Ranney. She married Sean Eugene Ward and they eventually divorced, but remained friends and co-parented their daughters.
She is survived by her parents, Richard (Bonnie) McLean of Pekin and Donna Cook of Manito, daughters, Shayla Alexander of South Pekin, Shawna Ward of Pekin, and Savana Ward of Washington, grandchildren, Marleyjane and Domino Alexander and Demerica Booker, brothers, Kevin McLean of Pekin and Richie McLean of Hawaii, step-sisters, Pam Eldert and Jodi Schauwecker, both of Pekin, aunts, Linda York of Manito and Barbara Garner of Morton, uncle, Bill McLean of East Peoria, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Raven.
She was preceded in death by her step-father Robert F. Cook, and brother, Robert P. Cook.
Dawn was outgoing and social and made many friends and acquaintances working as a bartender in Pekin at Koch St., Friends Tap, and Oldads. She enjoyed playing pool with leagues and with friends, and she never knew a stranger. She was well loved by her family and all that knew her, and she will be missed.
It was Dawn’s wish to be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Marine Corps League, 13370 Garman Rd. Pekin, IL 61554, beginning at 3:00 PM. All ages are welcome.
