Born July 1, 1953 in Pekin to Albert and Donna (Barbour) Perdew, he married Kathryn Voyles on February 19, 1977 in South Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are two sisters, Sandra (Dennis) Mitchell of Tremont and Cynthia (Matt) Fitzanko of Pekin; one brother, Rick (Margie) Perdew of Pekin; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; seven nephews; eleven nieces; 25 great-nephews; 11 great-nieces;19 great-great nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Lois Voyles and his beloved dog, Spike.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Douglas Perdew.
David had worked as a laborer at Peak Antifreeze for 15 years in Mapleton, retiring in 2005.
He enjoyed coaching and playing softball in the church league and the Boys and Girls Club. He loved sports and was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and an Indianapolis Colts football fan. He also enjoyed music, fishing and watching soap operas, especially Days of our Lives, which he started watching with his mom as a young boy.
David was a member of Pekin First Church of God.
He recently became an organ donor and because of this choice, he will help approximately 22 people who may get a new lease on life.
His service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory. Pastor Randy Justus will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest City Cemetery in Forest City.
