He was born May 27, 1946 in Peoria to Joseph and Lois (Hardy) Huff. His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons, Richard (Wendy) Huff of Pekin, Joseph (Amy) Huff of Oklahoma and David Huff of Green Valley; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two sisters, Jo Huff and Sue (Steve) Anderson, both of Peoria.
David was a United States Navy veteran who loved his country.
He worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
Dave loved spending time and talking with his family. He was an avid football fan and reader. On most days, one could find him reading by the Illinois River. Throughout his life he has enjoyed motorcycles, old cars and spending time with friends, and collecting eagle memorabilia.
He will be greatly missed.
A gathering celebrating Dave's life will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the William Schaefer American Legion Post 44, 718 Court Street in Pekin. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
