Daniel Wayne Meixsell

Born November 17, 1949 in Pekin to Roy Vernon and Ruby (Cline) Meixsell, he married the love of his life, Penny Sapp on October 30, 1987 in Pekin. She died May 2, 2016 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Paula Meixsell.

Surviving are two brothers, Jerry Meixsell of South Carolina and Dennis (Janis) Meixsell of Illinois and one daughter, Kelly Meixsell of Illinois.

His beloved penny came from a very large family and he is also survived by countless in-laws and relatives from her Sapp family.

Dan was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served as an aircraft mechanic. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Immediately after his military service, he continued to work in aviation for a time.

He later went to work at Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria for 30 years.

Dan was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing in Central Illinois.

His graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October, 24, 2023 at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin. Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate.
