He was born February 8, 1991 in Pekin to Gary Scott Brienen and Michelle Lynn DePeugh.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Michelle and Eric A. Dupent of South Pekin; his father and step-mother, Scott and Bobbi J. Brienen of Pekin; three brothers, Christopher Scott DePeugh, Ace Anthony Dupent, both of South Pekin and Joshua Dean Brienen of Pekin; one sister, Hayley Diane Brienen of Pekin; grandparents, Kenneth Paul and Carol Coryell DePeugh Thompson of Chillicothe, Gary Irvin and Dorothy June Brienen of Pekin, Sharon Diane and Terry Leroy DePeugh of Manito, Maurice George and Mary Katherine Dupent of Pekin and Jean C. Taylor of Pekin and his great-grandmothers, Eleanor Pauline Williams of Chillicothe and Marcella Brienen of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bobby Joe Taylor and great-grandfather, Irvin Brienen.
Cory was a freshman at Pekin Community High School. He graduated in 2005 from Broadmoor Junior High School in Pekin. He previously attended South Pekin Grade School, where he played basketball and baseball.
He loved riding and repairing bikes and making choppers. He also had a knack for small engine repair and enjoyed fixing lawnmowers, computers and electronics. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed skateboarding.
He was a member of Pekin First Church of God, where he was a member of the youth group.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2005at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Charles W. "C.J." Plogger, Jr. and Rev. Brent Miller will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2005at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito.
