Born December 12, 1925, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to Everett Paul and Kathleen (Liller) Elliott. She married V. Clayton Nutter on November 12, 1942, in Catlettsburg, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Leslie Paul Elliot, of West Virginia, and her daughter Carolyn Gordon of Hartford, Wisconsin.
Surviving are one son, Virgil “Rick” (and Joy) Nutter of Arizona; one daughter, Linda (and Rev. Jeffrey) Kaetterhenry of Georgia; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Both of her daughters married pastors and her son is very active in church and mission work. Her grandchildren are also involved in churches or ministry, a testimony to her godly example in the home.
Mrs. Nutter received Jesus Christ as her Savior as a young girl and always loved and obeyed Him. Her life of virtue and character was an example to all those around her; and as a wife and mother, she raised her three children to love and serve Christ. She committed her life to Christ and was dedicated to working in the churches that she and her husband, Pastor Nutter, attended.
Mrs. Nutter taught her first Bible class on victorious Christian living to a group of ladies from various denominations in March of 1970. Throughout the 1970’s God opened doors to teach in many churches and homes in central Illinois, and at the School of the Bible, sponsored by the Greater Peoria Ministerial Association.
From the Bible classes, Victorious Life Evangelical Bible Church began in December 1978 with Pastor and Mrs. Nutter as the founding members, and where Mrs. Nutter’s Bible classes continued and her worldwide ministry began. Pastor Nutter pastored the church until his retirement in 1994.
Requests for recordings of Mrs. Nutter’s lessons began locally, and the first international request was received from Ghana, West Africa, in 1983. Her ministry continued to expand in the 1980’s and 1990’s as God opened doors into many nations, increasing into a worldwide ministry (Worldwide Victorious Life Bible Tape Ministry) with a staff of over 80 people. Her lessons have now been distributed into all 50 states and reached every country throughout the world. Numerous requests for these Bible lessons are received from pastors, evangelists, missionaries, church leaders, and teachers, as well as from those ministering in colleges, Bible institutes, hospitals, prison ministries, radio programs, and tape libraries to reach the lost and lead Christians to grow deeper in their life in Christ.
Her Bible tapes were eventually made available on CDs, many of which were broadcast on radio programs to further the outreach. A number of her lessons were made into books which have been translated into twenty-five languages, leaving a legacy which continues to edify and sanctify the body of Christ around the world for the glory of God. Through the years hundreds of thousands of Bible lessons have been mailed all over the world.
Mrs. Nutter continued to teach even in her latter years, faithfully laboring for the Lord. Her desire as a Bible teacher was to always glorify Jesus Christ and to lead Christians into a victorious life in Christ, teaching that they could have victory over sin through all circumstances. She lived everything she taught and was a kind and loving example, always caring for the needs of others, providing spiritual help as well as giving wherever she saw a need.
Tens of thousands of letters have been received requesting Mrs. Nutter’s lessons with many of them testifying of changed lives, miracles, and pastors witnessing multitudes turning to Jesus Christ upon hearing the Bible lessons. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her and by the church of Jesus Christ.
Private services were held at Victorious Life Bible Church with Pastor James Schoonover officiating, and burial in Victorious Life Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Worldwide Victorious Life Bible Tape Ministry, P.O. Box 423, Morton, IL 61550.
