Born September 10, 1929 in Peoria to Gordon and Annabelle (Huff) Sellers, he married Marie Caroline Schwark on September 10, 1954 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She died March 30, 2010 in Peoria. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Arthur Lee Sellers, Jr.; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Sellers; one granddaughter, Samantha Markum and two sisters, Norma Pilgrim and Patty Sellers.
Surviving are four children, Joanie Humphreys of Marquette Heights, Jerry Sellers of East Peoria, Sandy (Brad) Wheeler of Creve Coeur and Angie (Jim) Markum of Pekin; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Billy (Marlene) Johnson of Galesburg.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Art retired from Caterpillar, Inc. with 30 years of service as a parts handler in Morton in 1989.
He was known for raising homing pigeons that he also raced. Art also enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching stock car racing. He was a fan of NASCAR.
His graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2024 at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. Pastor Krista Price will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
