Joe M. Gonzalez, 66, passed away April 4th, 2022. He was born in Houston, TX on July 8th, 1955. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice M. Herrera, father, Freddie T. Gonzales, brothers, Jerome Gonzales, and Bobby Martinez.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1973-1976 and saw a tour in Vietnam. He retired from DuPont as a hazardous tanker truck driver in the 1990's and began his life as an entrepreneur. He started a private security firm with much success, and later moved into the OSHA and Safety arena as an OSHA and HIPAA instructor, from which he retired. He always missed his love for driving trucks all over the US while listening to country music. Joe loved playing softball and was proud to have founded his own team called "The Blue Jays". He always said he would have helped the 'Stros win the big one if he had time to make the team. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, taking road trips with his family, and spending time at the beach. He also enjoyed writing poems and won awards from the National Poetry Society for some of his work. He was a romantic and enjoyed dancing with his wife to their favorite love songs. We saw him as a loving, funny, courageous, determined and extremely hardworking individual to have lived (and a ladies’ man). He touched the lives of so many people by sharing his wisdom with them and teaching them many things and providing lessons in life from both his successes and downfalls. First and foremost, he was a father, a grandfather, and a loving husband who did everything he could to make sure his family was ok. He surrendered his life to God and Christ towards the end and found peace from his physical ailments.
He will be incredibly missed by those who loved him.
He leaves behind a loving family, friends, and colleagues. He is survived by his wife of 24 years Maria Gonzalez, his children Joe, Christopher, Natalie, Elizabeth, Kimberly and Barbara. His grandchildren, Miguel, Luis, Melissa, Alyssa, Victoria, Gabriel, Jonathan, Sophia, Isabella, Chase, Nichole, Nikolas, and more. He has many great grandchildren, and is survived by brothers, Freddie, Angel, Manuel, Danny, Epifanio, Cleto, Robert, and Eddie; and sisters, Ruth, Lydia, Dinah, Esther, and Irene.
A memorial service for Joe will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Forest Park South Funeral Home, 12650 Shadow Creek Parkway, Pearland, TX 77584.
