A visitation for Van will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Grandview Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 PM that same day in the Church sanctuary.
He was born May 5, 1960 in Jackson, Mississippi and was part of the Pearl High School graduating class of 1978. Van attended Grandview Baptist Church and was a Christian family man, through and through. He was always there for his family and in his later years, was especially fond of his daddy, who taught him how to be the man that was. A hard worker, Van was well-known locally as the kind and dedicated owner of Van's Sporting Goods, the multi-state family owned business. Using his platform and success to have a positive impact on others was an important part of how he lived his life, especially showing thanks to local law enforcement and Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Survivors include his parents, Robert M. Allen and Billie Ruth Jenkins Allen; beloved wife of 29 years, Julie King Allen; three sons, Brandon Allen (Carmen), Matthew Allen, and Jacob Allen; brother, Mark Allen (Connie), grandchildren, Wyatt Allen, Charley Allen, and Gabby Allen; his beloved dog, Trump; as well as a host of other precious extended family members and dear friends.
