Richard “Sonny” Gray, age 89, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023. He was born February 26, 1934 in Greenwood, Ms to the late Charles E. Gray and Elma Frances Bowman Gray. He spent most of his years working as a contractor and he also proudly served our country in the Korean War. In his free time, you could find him working in the garden or watching whatever sport he could find on tv. He had a heart of gold, and loved and supported his family with everything he had.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 10:00am, Thursday, June 29, 2023, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Brandon.
Survivors include his daughters, Rhonda Mangum and Shana Harrell; 2 granddaughters Shay Shoemaker and Raven Harrell; 2 grandsons Dagen Harrell and Zach Lott; 4 great-grandchildren, Austin (Jonna) Shoemaker, Lauren and Ana Layne Shoemaker, Geanna Harrell ; and 4 great great-grandchildren, Rylan Herring, Jovie, Kayelyn and Rivi Shoemaker.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Bobbie Garner, Inez Till, Juanita Stingley, Belva Lishman; and brothers, Lamar, Vernon, and Norris Gray.
