He was preceded in death by his parents, Everette Miller and Velma Duncan Miller; brother, Carlton Miller (Bernice); brother, Gerald Miller, and daughter, Deanna Merrill.
Fred is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ladene Hudson Miller; son, Larry D Miller and wife, Lori; son-in-law, George (Joey) Merrill; grandchildren, Georgia Merrill and friend Oliver Reece, Jacob Miller, Adam Merrill, and Benjamin Miller; and brother, Donald Miller (Paula).
Born on February 19, 1933 in Attala County, he attended Kosciusko Schools and Holmes Junior College, and would go on to graduate from Mississippi State University. After his father's death, he helped his mother take care of his younger brothers. Fred served our country in the United States Army. On August 9, 1964 he married Ladene Hudson Miller. Fred was retired from the Mississippi State Department of Revenue.
A family oriented, Christian man, he was a member of Kosciusko United Methodist Church, and attended McLaurin Heights United Methodist Church. His Faith was a huge influence on those he loved, and he taught his family to live their life by what God would want them to do. He ensured that they understood the importance of loving and following God. Fred was grateful for the gift of Salvation and never took anything for granted. He continued this kindness, always ensuring everyone's needs were met; even when his own health began to decline. He loved to spoil the grandchildren with a little spending money.
Fred had a deep appreciation for nature, one of God's greatest creations. He enjoyed working in the outdoors, riding his tractor and bush hogging, hunting for quail, deer, and other game. On Sunday mornings, he would cook "Fred's Famous Waffles" for the family. He enjoyed going to the park to feed the ducks, often accompanied by his grandchildren. They were amazed with his banjo, guitar, and harmonica skills and what they termed his "yodel music". His endless encouragement and faithful attendance at every school event was a testament of his love. Affectionately known as "G Daddy"; he loved spending time and playing with them and taking trips to the "country house" to ride four-wheelers, pick blueberries, and just playing in the country.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, and will be deeply missed by all.
