Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at North Brandon Church of Christ. Interment followed on Monday, February 29, 2016, in the Chapman Church of Christ Cemetery in Ripley, MS.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Merita Bane; sons, Jay Bane (Dain) and John Bane; daughters, Susan Bane, Tina Cliburn (Scotty), Christi Talley (Jeff) and Misti Wilson (Stewart); brothers, Richard Bane and Chris Bane (Paula); sister, Jean Dearman (Len); grandchildren, Wil and Jarrett Bane, Leslie Cliburn, Trent Cliburn, Mason Talley, Tara Dill (Bran), Tyler and Tanner Wilson; and sister-in-law, Judy Bane.
Mr. Bane was preceded in death by his parents, R.B. and Calvie Bane; brother, Kenny Bane; sister, Barbara Rhodes; and grandson, ABFAN Ashton Kelley, U. S. Navy.
Mr. Bane was born in Louisville, MS and later marred his wife, Merita in March of 1972. They lived in Tupelo, MS for a couple of years and then moved to Pearl, MS in 1974 where he lived until his death.
Mr. Bane was a member of the North Brandon Church of Christ in Brandon, MS and previously Siwell Road Church of Christ (Jackson), Skyway Hills Church of Christ (Pearl) and West Main Church of Christ (Tupelo). Mr. Bane loved his church family and loved attending services. He loved singing gospel songs.
Mr. Bane served in the MS National Guard in the 1960's. He was a Tool and Die Maker early in his career and then became an Insurance Auditor. The past 25 years he worked at Jackson Prep in the cafeteria, Mr. Donnie was the candy and cookie man. He was loved and he loved the students and referred to them as "Hey Clyde" and staff at Jackson Prep and worked there until December 2015 when he retired.
Mr. Bane was a character, he loved to have fun and play pranks on his friends and family. He was extremely "goosey" and his family and friends loved to "goose" him. You never knew what he was going to holler when he was goosed or who he might throw a punch at.
Mr. Bane loved his family, especially his grandchildren and his grandchildren loved him dearly. He loved to aggravate them and vice versa. He had eight grandsons and one granddaughter. Mr. Bane also loved all of his brother's sisters, brother-n-laws, sister-n-laws, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Bane's extended family were his work family at Jackson Prep, his special work friends were Catherine Gray, Sherry Thompson, Gloria Williams, Capriest Frazier, Shilo Nichols, Norris Wright, Mahogany Sanders, Gloria Jones, Bobby Joe Spann, Kurt Jordan, Norwood Sanders, Randolph Smith and Willie Clincy.
