Martha was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on November 5, 1926 and was the daughter of James B and Mildred S Hockersmith. She and her family lived in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. In 1945 Martha moved to Baltimore, Maryland to attend Union Memorial School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered Nurse. While living in Baltimore she met and married Richard H. Cox who was a student at Johns Hopkins University. Their years together found them and their three children residing in several locations throughout the northeast. Eventually Richard and Martha left Caldwell, New Jersey and retired to Peachtree City, Georgia to be near family.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Cox and her son, Richard H. Cox Jr.
She is survived by daughters Carolyn (Peter) Pfeifer, Cynthia (Will) Armstrong and daughter-in-law Andrea Held Cox; grandchildren Richard (Larese) Armstrong, James (Kristen) Armstrong, Eddie (Mallory) Armstrong, Lauren Pfeifer Jackson (Steven), Alex (Avia) Cox, and Sam Cox; brother James B (Nancy) Hockersmith and nieces and nephews Sue Ann (Peter) Gaffney, Janice (David) Doyle, James B Hockersmith, David (Rosemary) Cox; along with six beautiful great grandchildren.
Martha was loving, compassionate, and supportive toward all who knew her. Her family meant the world to her - and she meant the world to them.
Arrangements will be scheduled at a later date in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
