He was born in 1935 to John and Mary Hoyt in Fort Worth, TX. He moved with his parents and his younger brother, Richard, to Mt. Vernon, OH. There, he was an avid athlete playing both football and basketball throughout high school leading his teams to championships; however the love of his life was Debbie Pond. They met in Kindergarten, started dating in the 8th grade, and enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage together.
John graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and returned to complete his MBA. His sales work for Dow Corning Corporation required moves to Florida, Midland, Michigan, and eventually Mission Viejo, CA. He was a devoted father, who actively attended all school activities and games of his children. He retired in 1995 and he and Debbie traveled the globe together. His other hobby was rooting for his Purdue Boilermakers in their athletic competitions. In 2013, John and Debbie relocated to Peachtree City, GA to be near the family and very active grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Barbara Hoyt; daughter, Jensine and son-in-law, Bruce Sutherland; and daughter, Kimberly Hoyt. He loved being an involved grandfather to his four grandchildren, Angela and Lindsay Hoyt, and Camden and Tanner Sutherland who also survive him.
Our family loved him and will celebrate his life with a private memorial service in California at a future date.
