Jack leaves behind his three children, Jay (Tammy), Cissy Johnson, and Michael (Tessa) Johnson; three grandchildren (Branden, Justin and Nathan); as well as eleven great-grandchildren, through his extended family, all of whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Caroline Whitworth Johnson.
Jack worked in the transportation industry his entire life. Beginning at a young age he worked in his family’s small trucking operation where he honed his skills in maintenance, driving, and learning how a business operated. He would later move into the leasing side of the trucking business working for several different leasing companies including Rollins and Penske among others. Jack made the decision in the late 1980’s to start his own company, SNL Distribution which later became SNL Distribution Services, where he grew a small upstart company into a successful company of over eight hundred employees.
Jack’s many hobbies included building and modifying cars, dragsters and racing boats at a young age. He loved fishing, often traveling to Louisiana to fish for redfish and speckled trout. He was also an avid golfer who played many of the premier golf courses in the United States, including Augusta and Pebble Beach.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 11, 2023 in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, 135 Senoia Road, Peachtree City.
