Dot was born in Worth County, GA moving to Smyrna in her early childhood and then graduating from Smyrna High School. Dot had a very interesting working career starting out as a switchboard operator during WWII and ultimately becoming an executive secretary in Atlanta. When she retired from her full time job Dot enjoyed working for various school systems in Cobb County, GA and Richmond, VA.
Dot was a devoted and loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and she had many friends both in Georgia and in Richmond and will be sorely missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Julian Harshbarger; her parents, Grace Willis Evans and Miles Standish Willis; and her younger brother, John Wayne Evans.
She is survived by her older brother, Miles S. Willis and wife, Eleanor Willis of Kennesaw, GA; daughter, Paula H. O’Connor and husband, William R. O’Connor of Newnan, GA; grandchildren, William R. O’Connor Jr. and wife, Isabele O'Connor of San Antonio, TX, Robert C. O’Connor of Atlanta, GA and Elizabeth O. Land and husband, Travis J. Land of Canton, GA. She is also survived by her loving great-grandsons, Charles W. Land and Connor T. Land.
A celebration of Dot’s life will be held in Richmond at a future date.
