Jean delighted in life. She loved children and was passionate about family. Her interests included history and music - she played the piano, accordion, and dulcimer. She also enjoyed writing poetry, gardening, and travel. She graduated from Cincinnati Bible Seminary, completed a Degree in Education at Cedarville College in Ohio, and finished a Master's Degree at the University of South Alabama. She taught school for 29 years.
Married for 62 years, Jean served in ministry with her husband, Jack Fawley. For over 50 years, they served 12 congregations in six different states (Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia). They had two daughters, Susan Baker and Carolyn Fjeran; one granddaughter, Kristin Andrews; two grandsons, Alan Baker and Scott Baker; two great-grandsons, Jackson Baker and Logan Baker; and one great-granddaughter, Emma Andrews.
Jean celebrated people and life - she never met a stranger! When given the book, "A Mother's Legacy" she graciously filled in her story in her own words. In answer to the question, What is one of your best characteristics, she responded "Concern for people: friends, family, 'lost' and hurting people all over the world." This is the essence of who she was! She had a big heart!
Jean passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at The Haven at Newnan. A celebration of life is scheduled August 3, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Southwest Christian Church, 3836 US-29, Newnan, Georgia 30265. We would be honored to have you celebrate her life with us.
