Donald "Don" Earl Madding, age 92, of Peachtree City, Georgia passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024. He was born in Nevada, Missouri on October 13, 1931, to Nova Morris Madding and Thomas Lester Madding. He grew up in Jefferson City, Missouri, where he attended school, until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1949, serving in Morocco, during the Korean War era. Following his service, Don earned a B.A. degree in Finance from The University of Missouri.
Don and his wife, the former Patricia “Jean” Painter, lived briefly in Texas, where their daughter Karen was born in 1951. Later, the couple moved to California, where Don was employed by Hunt-Wesson Foods. A son, Leslie Don Madding, was born in 1960.
In 1971, Don married Carolyn Conway, whom he met through business associates in Ohio. He and Carolyn “Lyn” lived in Buena Park, California, until his retirement.
Don’s professional life was spent with Hunt-Wesson Foods, where he was Assistant Treasurer and Property Tax Manager. Upon retirement, he moved to Menifee, California, where he enjoyed playing golf and planning travel adventures. As a Gold Member of the Travel Century Club, he visited all seven continents and over 200 different countries.
Don is survived by his wife, Carolyn Conway Madding of Buena Park, California; his daughter, Karen Madding Childs (Ernest) of Peachtree City, Georgia; his son, Leslie Don Madding (Lora) of Dripping Springs, Texas; and his sister, Sue Madding Summers of Huntington Beach, California. Don’s descendants also include grandchildren, Kathryn Alexandra Childs, Justin Cody Madding (Sarah), and Chelsey Madding Davila (Ruben) and his great-grandchildren, Hunter Case Madding, Bowen Grant Madding, and Ava Rae Davila.
