Donald R Allen

Mr. Donald Ray Allen of Union City, GA passed away on May 12, 2023 at the age of 95. He was born in 1927 in Hinton, WV to the late Madeline Wicker Allen and Ray Truman Allen. After graduating from Hinton High School in 1945, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was stationed during the ending of WWII in occupied China. He was employed as a mechanic by Capital Airlines which later became United Airlines for 37 years. He was a dedicated employee, moving when needed for his career and family. He loved his family and adored the love of his life, Myra. He lived by example for his children and grandchildren. He has left this place better than he found it.

Mr. Allen is also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Alice Phillips; brother-in-law, Paul Phillips; and brother, Shelby Allen.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71+ years, Myra Crowder Allen; and their children, Donna Baxley (Mailon) of Rome, GA, Lollie McKinnon (Robert) of Sharpsburg, GA, Gary Allen (JoLynne) of Woodbury, GA and Bruce Allen (Jeff) of Grayslake, IL; four grandchildren, Chad Nisbet (Juvy) of St. Augustine, FL, Sterling Trask (Jessica) of Senoia, GA, Regina Harris (Jason) of Salem, AL and Kevin Allen (Leah) of Newnan, GA; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan Trask, Jacob Harris and Ray Allen. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Joy Allen; brother-in-law, Samuel Crowder; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held for Mr. Allen at 2:00pm, Saturday, June 17, 2023 in the Christian City Chapel, Union City, GA.
