Ann Cara Main

Ann will be dearly missed and is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bill Main; her three children, Beth Ryan Bauer (Barry), Bart Main (Amy), and Katie Wingo; her seven grandchildren, Colton Rowland, Will Main, Jack Ryan, Kate Ryan, Carson Wingo, Josie Wingo, and Cara Main. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen (Gert) and Edward and her sister, Jane.

Ann was born and raised in Lima, Ohio on October 22, 1942. She attended St. Ursula High School and graduated college from Mary Manse College in 1965 with a degree in Education. In 1968, she married her love, Bill. In the different communities they lived, Ann’s love of English and teaching was shared with the children and staff she adored in Athens, Peachtree City, Pittsburgh, and Tampa. She returned to Peachtree City to complete her career and retire with her beloved Fayette County School System. Ann was the sweetest teacher who loved her co-workers and students immensely, and they all adored her as well.

Ann had an uncanny knack for card games and did not miss an opportunity to meet with friends weekly for Bridge. She loved watching Jeopardy and Family Feud daily. She was an avid reader who frequented the Peachtree City Library regularly and enjoyed sharing her favorite book or author. Her greatest passion was watching her grandchildren excel in their personal activities. When the Atlanta Braves were playing, you could be assured that Ann was watching until the last pitch was thrown.

Ann’s strong faith in our Lord has been a blessing and a comfort to her family in her death. A celebration of her life will be held in the coming months. In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Georgia Starting Block, a foundation that is passionate about removing financial obstacles that prevent students’ access to sports. Your support can make a difference in the life of a child on and off the field. With Ann’s love of children and sports, we cannot imagine a better foundation to support.
