Lydia Carter was born in Payette in 1953. The youngest of 5, she was the baby. Mom graduated from Payette high school 1971. In 1973 she welcomed her first child, a girl named Kathaleen. Lydia then moved to Caldwell, went to work at the Idaho state school and hospital. In 1981 she welcomed her second child, a boy named John. My mom loved to travel, and in that she had a great companion named Ed Johnson and his family. Ed and my mother would spend time traveling to Arizona and enjoying time down there with friends and family. When she was home, she looked forward to visiting my children, often volunteering to care for them. They were her joy and happiness and their characteristics reflect their love for her. She spoke to her friends often about all her grandchildren. Mother was a member of TOPS for many years and she made many great friends there. She seldom missed a meeting if she was in town and feeling well. One of her best friends was Donna Allen, She spent lots of time visiting with her, and together they would go donate at the women's shelter. Yard sales and donating things was a hobby of my mothers, she often brought home treasures to share with the many people she loved. My mother was a wonderful person. She had faults as well, but she always kept trying. Her family was important to her, and I have learned that from her as well. I (John) had a tumultuous relationship at times with her. However through it all we always worked it out and forgave each other. Forgiveness, I believe, is the most important lesson I learned from my mother. I could always count on her unconditional support, love and guidance. The world became a poorer place with my mother's passing. Lydia is survived by her children and grandchildren. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Kathleen Langley and survived by her siblings Tracy, Lelah, Larue, Philip and their families. She touched all of their lives, the older ones Zack and Sabrina but the youngest three; Eryk, Cloe, Patryk she was there everyday for them. The kids gave her joy and she was able to spend her last Christmas with them, talking and playing, for that I am eternally grateful. She is missed every day by those that knew her and loved her and will never be forgotten.
