Bill left Pennsylvania at a young age and joined the United States Air Force so he could see the
world. He retired in 1966 from the Air Force after serving over 20 years at the rank of Tech
Sergeant . After retirement he settled in Pasadena, Texas and began a second career at The Port
of Houston Authority. He was married to Marjorie Rogan Richards for 47 years until her death
in 1997. He later married Donna Sue Kaufman Richards and they were married for 21 years
until his death. Family was important to Bill and, as long as he was able, he never missed a
Family Reunion. Every year he would load his family up in the car and off they went to explore
the country. No matter how many times his girls would ask him to stop to see something he
would. He stopped at nearly every Historical Marker and would read them and gave them a
"real on the road education" and love for America. He loved sports and followed the Houston
Astros, Texans and Rockets. Country Music was his favorite music. He loved to dance and
would glide along that dance floor like it was smooth as glass. He will be missed forever by all
who loved him. He made a difference in the lives of so many and formed friendships he had for
a lifetime. He led a good and honest life and was a good man.
