Suzanne loved people, purple-hull peas, laughing and Jesus. Mom loved life. She was rarely caught without a smile on her face, a kind word or a sassy comeback. She was a 4’9” giant who usually demanded a hug. It went something like- “Get over here and give me a hug” … Suzanne knew how to love- it was her secret weapon.
But she was also a fighter. Suzanne battled through the loss of her daughter, Marcy, a lung transplant and multiple health problems related to her transplant. She was head-strong, determined and down-right defiant when challenged by life. She fought with grace and dignity and Jesus at her side; and she taught everyone around her no matter how tough life gets, God is tougher.
Suzanne worked in banking most of her life. When she retired in 2008, she retired as a branch manager, but her career was never her greatest accomplishment. Her family was. Suzanne’s daughters, Marcy and Noelle, were her world; and her grandsons, Caleb and Zack were her whole heart, her light and her joy. She beamed with pride every time she got to watch a play, attend a band or choir concert, a game or just simply spend time with them.
If you were loved by Suzanne, you were fiercely loved. She loved her husband, Errol, fiercely. She was the best wife and momma! She was married to Errol on February 25, 1972. Errol would tell you it was the best decision she ever made, and she would agree! They had a love story like no other. He never had to tell her he loved her because every action of every day showed her. Everyone who knew them, knew the depth and the width of their love for one another. They were the truest example of what God intended for a marriage.
