Ramon was born Tuesday, October 26, 1948, in Brownsville, Texas to the late Ramon and Josefa (Valdez) Sosa. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 41 years, Maria Magdalena Sosa (née Cantu). They were married on December 18, 1971. Ramon is survived by his two loving daughters, Magda Sosa-Gwosdz (Jerry) of Alvin, Texas and Claudia Lorena Sosa, of Pasadena, Texas. He is survived by his four grandchildren, Claudia Nikole Vela (Roberto Bernal), Benjamin Antonio Gwosdz, Samuel Paul Gwosdz and Lillian Beatriz Gwosdz, and two great-grandchildren, Nathalia Ramos-Vela and Roberta Bernal Vela. Ramon is survived by his ten siblings: Maria “Bebe” C. Amador (David), of Pasadena, Texas, Josie “Nena” Rojano (Ramon), of Brownsville, Texas, Ramona “Nona” Vega (Raul), of Pasadena, Texas, Clara “China” Salazar of Brownsville, Texas, Rosario “Charo” Caballero, of Bradenton, Florida, Maria “Quena” Rodriguez (Raymond) of Pasadena, Texas, Dolores “Loli” Hernandez (Esteban) of Pasadena, Texas, Blanca “Mimi” Lerma (Ramiro), of Sarasota, Florida, Jesus “Sonny” M. Sosa, of Pasadena, Texas and Maria Magdalena “Maggie” Navarro (Julio) of Kent, Washington. Also left to cherish his memory are his nieces, nephews and friends. Ramon was a devoted father, husband and grandfather. Before getting married, he served in the army and was a proud Vietnam War Veteran. Ramon worked for many years in plant maintenance at Houston Shell and Concrete and at Texas Industries (TxI). He also ran his own businesses including running dump trucks, eighteen wheelers and welding. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ramon especially enjoyed hosting family bar-b-que’s at home. He liked to make others laugh by telling silly jokes and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
