Norma Brown’s life is the story of a life well lived. She was first and foremost a daughter of the King. If someone knew her for only a moment, they would know that God was always first in her life. You could see and hear it in every action, word, or deed.
Norma was born to Henry and Hixie Norman in Anderson County, Texas on October 20, 1935. Norma attended school in Elkhart, Tx & after graduating High School she went on to graduate from Nixon Business School. She married Glenn Brown in 1954.
Norma served as the secretary and Bookkeeper of the Huntsville Church of Christ (HCOC); Huntsville High School; Gulf States Utilities, & TDCJ. She lovingly cared for Glenn as he was nearing the end of his life and oh, what a good caregiver she was. She also cared for her mother and brother after her father died. Hixie (Mammie) and Jerry were often considered as one.
Jerry was born with Cerebral Palsy and lived 5x his predicted life span due in part to the constant love and care he received by his mother and sisters and by the Grace of God. Norma, through her mother’s example, also taught others by example how to love and care for others. They set the bar high for us all.
Throughout her years while living in Huntsville, Norma dedicated her time to serving the Lord in various ways within her church family. She also loved serving as a volunteer with the Hearts Veterans Museum, Huntsville, Tx. and spent a short time volunteering with the Huntsville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary before moving to Pasadena, Tx to live with daughter, Lori. While in Pasadena she wasted no time involving herself in the Lord’s work there.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband & Hero, Glenn Brown; her parents; brothers Bill Norman (LaVern}; Jerry Norman; Sisters Nan Slider (James}; Mittie Ruth Carter Bishop (Frank), Brother-in-laws. Wayne Brown; Roger Brown (Bobbie); Owen Brown. Glenn’s parents, Lillie Jones & Walter Brown; niece Carol Bishop, nephew Gary Brown.
Norma is survived by her 3 daughters: Roxanne Brown Lowe and husband Dan, Ovilla, Tx; Kathy Brown Hudson and husband Mike, Huntsville, Tx; Lori Brown Muirhead and husband Rick, Pasadena, Tx. She leaves 9 grandchildren and 11 greatgrands, all of whom she adored: Nathan Lowe and wife Kim (Torah) Midlothian, Tx; Jacob Lowe and wife Annie (Ezra & Sybil) Carrollton, Tx; Hannah Lowe Holton and husband Juston (Cooper & Mercer) Cedar Hill, Tx; Michelle Hudson Perry and husband Jarrid (Addison, Emma & Colby) Bryan, Tx; Marci Ruth Hudson (Jack) Huntsville, Tx; Mallory Hudson Lemen and husband Kyle, North Richland Hills, Tx; Chris Muirhead, Pasadena, Tx; Josh Muirhead, Huntsville, Tx and his Fiancé Brittany Davis, Houston, Tx; Lauren Muirhead Clay and husband Ben Clay (Owen & Julian) Panhandle, Tx; Sister-in-law Nell Brown, Lake Jackson, Tx; good friend Will Anderson, Trinity, Tx.; 20 nieces and nephews.
