On February 28, 2021 Mary Ellen Harrison was called to be with the Lord in Heaven. She was welcomed by those who preceded her in death, including her parents P.R.” Bob” Daniel, Jr. and Louise Daniel, and brother Jon Daniel.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Don Harrison; daughter Renee; son Ronnie and his wife Michelle; brothers P.R. “Trey” Daniel III, Gary Daniel and his wife Lynn; step-grandchildren Kane Bowlin, Jace Bowlin and his wife Candis; step-great grandchildren Kyle, Aiden and Olivia; along with many family, friends and her beloved dog Spanky.
Mary Ellen was born on June 29, 1942 in Mexia, Texas and moved to Houston as a child with her mother and grandparents while her father served overseas during WWII. In her youth, she was a cheerleader mascot for the University of Houston, model and singer performing in Trio with the Ed Gurlack Orchestra. She attended Lamar High School and Massey Business College. She married her husband Don in 1959 and they settled in Pasadena where she worked for Harris County at the Washburn Tunnel and retired as a clerk at the Tax Assessor's Office. She had a passion for animal rights creating a local campaign to “Save the Dolphins” and lobbied for the creation of the Pasadena Animal Shelter. She was baptized at South Avenue Baptist Church in Pasadena. She loved to read scripture, loved her family and loved God with all of her heart.
