Martha June Nordstrand departed this life peacefully on April 1, 2016. She was born in Houston, Texas on June 19, 1927, daughter of Arthur Martin Nordstrand and Mabel Teichman Nordstrand of Deer Park, Texas. Martha graduated from Pasadena High School and attended Sam Houston State University, where she majored in Business. She later joined the Women’s Army Corps, served overseas in Japan and received a medical retirement from the Army. For many years, she resided in her own home in South Houston, and was a member of the Baptist Church. The family did not have a car and depended on her for transportation. She was always willing to take them anywhere they wanted to go in her little green truck. Martha was very intelligent, soft spoken and was very well read. Reading was her hobby. She was a resident of First Colony Health Center for the past ten years. She never married or had any children.
Her parents, Arthur and Mabel Nordstrand predeceased her, as did three brothers, Arthur, Sigvald, and Elray, and three sisters, Marie Strandberg, Symova Jean Baxter, and Joy Angela Smith. She is survived by her two sisters, Mary Sharpless of Kingwood, Texas and Nell Cox of Magnolia, Texas and her two brothers, Carl Nordstrand of Houston, Texas, Victor Nordstrand of Sugar Land, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
