He was born in Pasadena, Texas on December 24, 1945 and was the second child of Velma Lucille Burks Savage and Ernest Savage
He is preceded in death by Elvis Banks, Kenneth Savage, Jerry Savage and parents as well as Ernest Savage and Velma Lucille Burks Savage.
From a very young age John was always a generous soul as well as an avid outdoorsman. It wasn't uncommon for him to stop on the way home from school and catch fish or other wildlife for his mother to cook for dinner. As many did in that time, John would use his outdoorsmanship to help provide for his family. Catching and selling fish was his favorite way to do so, and he would often spend time on the San Jacinto River catching alligator gar to sell to nearby families. John was always mischievous and witty. John graduated from Milby High school in 1966. John dedicated 30 years of his life as a Production Foreman for multiple chemical plants in Houston, while also attending TEEX Industrial Fire School annually. Shortly after graduation from high school, John married the love of his life, Virginia (Ginger) Cain. Together they had three sons, Jimmy, Lowell and Kirk.
John and Virginia enjoyed camping, hiking, hunting and fishing, as well as taking their boys on vacations around the country to such places as Big Bend National Park, Yellowstone, and Redwood National Park. John was a conservationist and environmentalist at heart and took pride in teaching his children and grandchildren how to respect the outdoors. Over the years John had the opportunity to hunt and fish across North America, including Wyoming and Alaska. In retirement John could be found working in the yard, around the house, or at the family property in Oakwood. Once the work was done for the day, John enjoyed his evenings playing a game of dominoes or Uno with his wife and grandchildren.
Most importantly John was a man of God and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pasadena.
John Savage is survived by his wife Virginia Savage, sons; Jimmy ( wife Kristie) Savage, Lowell ( wife Connie) Savage, and Kirk ( wife Jamie) Savage. As well as his grandchildren; Katie Savage, Lauren Savage, Kaleb Savage, Violet Savage, Autumn Savage, Molly Savage, and Maggy Savage, as well as great-grandchild Hattie Reeves. As well as niece Kris Morales, nephew, Justin Savage, great nieces, Carson Morales and Mia Savage, great nephew, Jadon Morales, and great great nephew Kent Morales.
