Mrs. JoAnn Nancy Morris, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, was born on October 7, 1966, in Pasadena, Texas, to Mr. and Mrs. Reynaldo and Maria A. Garcia. A proud graduate of Pasadena High School in May 1984, JoAnn was not only an exceptional student but also excelled in volleyball and band, showcasing her vibrant spirit and dedication.
In 1985, she continued her education at San Jacinto Community College, paving the way for a fulfilling career. JoAnn married her soulmate, Anthony L. Morris, on August 7, 1992, and together they created a life filled with love and laughter for 28 wonderful years until his passing on August 6, 2020.
JoAnn’s greatest joys came from her role as a mother to her four beautiful daughters: Cyrena, Anna Maria, Marissa, and Toni. She also cherished her role as a Tita to her grandson, Dakota Austin Ivory. Her professional journey culminated in a rewarding 25-year career at JP Morgan Chase, where she was known for her commitment and kindness.
On Sunday, October 6, 2024, just one day shy of her 58th birthday, JoAnn was called back home to the Lord after a courageous eight-month battle with liver cancer. Her strength, grace, and resilience inspired everyone around her as she faced her illness with unwavering spirit, ultimately reuniting with her beloved husband.
JoAnn was a beacon of light—strong, encouraging, and selfless. She had a unique gift for making others feel cherished and valued, embodying the true essence of love and compassion. A lover of the arts and a devoted family-oriented woman, she brought joy to every life she touched.
She leaves behind her four daughters Cyrena Morris, Anna Maria Morris, Marissa Bickley (Leandre), Toni Morris, her cherished grandson Dakota, and her loving sisters Veronica Casteñeda, Connie Frias, and Mary Jane Garcia, as well as her brothers Ray Garcia and Joe Garcia. She will also be remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives she enriched.
JoAnn now joins her husband Anthony, her parents Reynaldo and Maria, her sister Lorena Ramirez, her brother Reynaldo Garcia, and many other loved ones who welcomed her with open arms.
Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM with a Celebration of JoAnn's life beginning at 10:00 AM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
