He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Sherry Fleming Shrum of Deer Park, Texas; children, Kristee and Lindel Anderson of Indianapolis, Indiana and Raymond and Carmen Shrum of Deer Park, Texas; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Madison & Lincoln Anderson of Indianapolis, Indiana and Lindsay, Macy and Raymond Shrum of Deer Park, Texas; brother, Bill R. Shrum of Snyder, Oklahoma; sister, Faye Ray of Friendswood, Texas. In addition to his family, Jim was loved by many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Bruce; sister, Lucille Ward.
He was the founder and owner of Amber L.P. in Deer Park, Texas. He began the business in March of 1978 from his home. His unbridled determination and entrepreneurial spirit were the driving force for the success of the company that developed into a highly specialized industrial instrument and electrical contractor with completed work throughout the Gulf Coast and all over the United States supporting clients in a variety of industries.
Jim will be missed by his family and many friends. He will be remembered for his benevolence and larger than life persona. His many employees and colleagues through the years will remember him as a self-made businessman, for his work place integrity, hard work ethic and attention to detail. His life revolved around work and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was driven to provide for the future of them and his faithful wife, Sherry.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7pm on Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday, February 22, 2010, in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home, officiated by Larry Wiggins, Rev. Mike Fleming and Rev. James Kilgore II.
