James Randall Richards

He grew up in Nashville and Fayetteville and graduated from high school in Fayetteville. He then joined the US Army. After receiving an honorable discharge, he married his high school sweetheart, Gene Landess Currin and they moved to the Houston area. James took a job in 1967 at Philco-Ford at NASA. They moved to La Porte in 1973, where they have resided since. He worked in the technology industry most recently with Lyondell-Basell. After retirement, he continued his interest in computers and indulged in his love of cats.

James was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Mamie Sue Richards, his son John Richards, and his brother Steve Richards.

Left to cherish James’ memory is his devoted wife of 55 years, Gene Landess Richards of La Porte, his daughter Beth Richards of La Porte, and granddaughters Megan Wood of Houston and Calleigh Richards of Round Rock.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 5:00PM to 7:30PM with a Celebration of James' life beginning at 6:00PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
