James Artemas Hammack Jr. passed away on August 14, 2023, at the age of 96. He was born on July 29, 1927, to Lily Mae Hammack and James Artemas Hammack. James was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lillian Patricia Hammack, daughters Robin Kim Coxie and Jimmette Hammack, as well as his siblings Herbert Haskle, Robert Benjamin, John Everet Robinson, Ardena Hayhurst, and Maxine Hammack and son-in-law Jay Benjamin Emerick.

James was a devoted father and is survived by his children, Kay Lynette Wood, Madeline Kyle Emerick, and James Artemas Hammack III. He deeply cherished his role as a proud "Pawpaw" to ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

After proudly serving as a Yeoman in the Navy, James Hammack embarked on a successful career at Phillips 66, where he dedicated many years of hard work until his retirement at the age of 57. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

In his free time, James enjoyed pursuing his hobbies. Fishing, hunting, and traveling were passions that brought him great joy. He also found immense happiness in spending time with his family and took great pride in attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events. James had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed exploring new possibilities, including mastering the stock market.

James Artemas Hammack Jr. will be remembered as a loving family man, a dedicated professional, and a true adventurer with a zest for life. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of James Artemas Hammack Jr. will be held at Grandview Funeral Home located at 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505 on August 17, 2023. Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM with the funeral service following at 3:00 PM.
