James Edward Downs

James Edward Downs from Pasadena, Texas passed away September 6, 2017 at the age of 90. He was one of three triplets born January6, 1927 to parents Frederick Downs and Myrtle Shockley Downs Adelman. Jim attended Snyder High School and then, after serving in the U.S. Navy, he earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering at Oklahoma University in Norman.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 17 years of marriage, Deloris Schnobrich Downs, son Guy Downs and son Fred Downs. Also preceded in death siblings John and Fred Downs and sister Jo Rea Clare. Jim worked as an engineer with the Space Program at NASA. He was a member of The First Christian Church of Pasadena and Parents Without Partners (where he met dance companion Margaret Hooker). Jim had a passion for dancing, tennis, acting and women. He acted in several plays at Pasadena Little Theater. He and his daughter were also in a play in New York. Growing up the Downs Triplets were well known acrobatic and dance performers coached by their mom. Jim was known for his generosity and sense of humor!

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Broadhead Brandt and son Jeff Downs. Grandchildren include Brett Downs, Kristin Tauber and Lori Downs. Great grandchildren are Kennedy Jeffery and Guy Jeffery, Annabelle and Levi and McKenna Tauber, Megan and Holly Brandt and namesake James Downs.

Visitation will be September 15, 2017 from 5pm-8pm at Grandview Funeral Home located at 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10am at First Christian Church of Pasadena located at 4848 Preston Pasadena, TX 77505.
