J Sue Ferguson, 71, passed away peacefully on March 29th, 2014, in her home in LaPorte, Texas. She was born on May 16, 1942 in Vick, Louisiana to John A. Gannon and Nora Doris Clark Gannon. Sue grew up in Vick, Louisiana and Deer Park, Texas. She graduated from Deer Park, High School in 1958. After high school, she attended San Jacinto College and then worked as a civilian for the United Stated Coast Guard, Port of Houston, as an executive assistant to the senior commanding officers where she received the Federal Employee of the Year award in 2002. She retired in 2004 after 20 plus years of service.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Danny “Boone” Roberts; her mother, Doris Gannon; father, John A. Gannon; brothers, Charles Kelvin Gannon and Terry Gannon. She is survived by her four children, Carl Wade Ferguson of New Waverly, Texas; Jennifer Patton, of Katy, Texas; Cheryl Lindsey of Katy, Texas; Charlotte Turner of Cedar Creek, Texas; and Waynette Peters Ferguson of Anahuac, Texas; grandchildren, Charles Cole Ferguson; Hayden Ferguson; John Drew Perez; Kaili Ann Perez; Ella Turner; Audrey Patton; and great granddaughter, Emberly Ferguson.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Grand View Funeral Home in Pasadena, Texas on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., with funeral services to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. Sue will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Oak Grove French Cemetery in Effie, Louisiana next to her grandfather, Stephen ‘Coot” Clark.
