Gregory Scott Schooley III (Trey), 23, of Deer Park, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2019. His departure was peaceful, at home, and surrounded by loved ones at the end of the Texas A&M football game. Trey was born on February 20, 1996, in Pasadena, Texas, to Gregory Scott Schooley II and Aneadra Marie Gilmore. He is survived by his father: Gregory S. Schooley II, mother: Aneadra M. (Gilmore) Schooley-Reyes, step-mother: Carrie M. (Swartz) Schooley, step-father: Marcus Reyes, brothers: Ethan E. Schooley and Dylan T. Schooley, grandparents: George E. Gilmore, Donna K. (Kubena) Gilmore, Jane E. (Ballard) Baker, Waymon M. Baker, Angela R. (Corte) Swartz, “Buddy” Swartz, great-grandparents: Ben and Bennie Swartz, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Trey has always been a bright and caring young man. He built a relationship with God early in his life that he carried through to his last day. In his words, “his brothers were his best friends,” but he made everyone feel like a best friend. Trey seemed to accomplish almost any goal he set his sights on, from teaching himself to read by the age of 3, winning a spelling bee, marching in the high school drumline, or graduating from Texas A&M Engineering School with an Industrial Distribution degree. One of the last examples of his outlook on life was just before he was unable to communicate. He said, “cancer may take my life, but it will NEVER beat me.”
The service for Trey Schooley will be conducted by Senior Pastor Mike McMahon at Monument Baptist Church in Deer Park, Texas, on September 27, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. Preceding the service, visitation will also be in the Sanctuary of Monument Baptist Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on September 27th. Following the service, burial will take place at Grand View Memorial Park on Spencer Hwy., Pasadena, Texas. There will be a reception for those who would like to attend at MeadowCrest Church in Pasadena, Texas, beginning at 2:00 p.m. At the reception, people will have an opportunity to speak or share stories if they’re interested.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors/nursing staff, TIRR staff, Candlelighters Houston, Astros Foundation, J.J. Watt Foundation, Houston Texans Foundation, everyone that donated, prayed, called, texted, brought food, visited, or posted support on social media. You all are what gave Trey his strength. We also want to thank Carpenter Elementary, SGS North America, and H-E-B for allowing Trey’s family the time needed to be with him.
